If you've spent any time watching car interior LED install videos on YouTube, you've probably noticed they're 20+ minutes long. There's wire stripping, fuse-box tapping, door panel removal, and a lot of "make sure you don't blow the fuse for your seat warmer."
Wireless rechargeable LEDs skip all of that. Here's the entire installation process — under 3 minutes, no tools, no drilling, no electrical work.
What you need
- Your Onevzn wireless LED kit (any model)
- An isopropyl alcohol wipe (or any household alcohol-based cleaner)
- Your phone (for the app, optional — remote works fine too)
That's it. No tools. No screws. No drill. No fuse panel.
Step 1: Charge each LED pod (60–90 minutes, do this first)
Plug each pod into the included USB-C cable. The LED indicator on the pod turns red while charging. When it turns green, that pod is full.
You can charge them at home, in the car, at work, or at a coffee shop — anywhere with a USB outlet. Charging time is roughly 60–90 minutes for a full charge from empty.
Pro tip: Set them all charging at once on a multi-port USB hub. By the time you finish the next two steps below, they'll be ready.
Step 2: Choose your placement (2 minutes)
Wireless LEDs work best in spots that bounce light off a surface to create ambient glow, rather than pointing directly at people. The five most popular placements:
- Footwells (driver and passenger). Classic placement. Light spills onto the floor mat for a clean ambient glow.
- Under the dashboard. Light glows down onto the floor. Hidden during the day, dramatic at night.
- Behind the front seats. Illuminates the rear footwells for back-seat passengers.
- In cup holders or center console. Light reflects up onto the dashboard and ceiling. Best for accent lighting.
- Door panels (lower section). Light glows down onto the door sill and floor. Hidden behind the door when closed, visible when opened.
Avoid placing pods where they shine directly at the driver's eyes or reflect off the windshield. Light pointed up or sideways works much better than light pointed forward.
Step 3: Clean the mounting surface (30 seconds)
Wipe the chosen spot with the alcohol wipe. This removes oils, dust, and old residue — even if the surface looks clean, the alcohol wipe doubles the adhesive bond strength.
Skip this step on a hot day and the adhesive will lift after a few weeks. With this step, the magnetic or adhesive mount holds for years.
Step 4: Mount the pod (10 seconds)
There are two ways to mount, and both Onevzn kits include both options:
Magnetic mount — works on any ferromagnetic (iron-containing) metal surface. Snap the pod against the metal. Done. The pod can be removed and repositioned anytime without leaving residue.
Adhesive pad — works on any flat surface (plastic, vinyl, leather, fabric, wood trim). Peel the backing, press the pod firmly against the surface, hold for 30 seconds. The pad uses 3M-grade adhesive that's removable cleanly when you decide to relocate.
Inside most cars, dashboards and door panels are plastic — use the adhesive pad. Door jambs and seat frames are often metal — use the magnetic mount.
Step 5: Pair with the remote or app (1 minute)
Press the power button on the pod once. The LED turns on at the default color.
For remote control: point the remote at the pod and press color/mode buttons. The pod responds immediately.
For app control: download the Onevzn companion app (iOS or Android — search by your kit's model name), open it, and press "Add device." The app discovers nearby pods automatically. Once paired, you can sync up to 8 pods at once and control them all from a single color picker.
Step 6: Test all modes (under a minute)
Cycle through the color and effect modes once. The kits include:
- Static colors (held continuously)
- Fade (slow color transitions)
- Music sync (responds to ambient sound)
- Flash and strobe modes (best for parked builds, not for driving)
- Custom brightness from 10% to 100%
Find the brightness you like — most drivers prefer 30–50% for ambient mood and 70%+ for showing off in a parked car at night.
Common mistakes to avoid
Mistake 1: Skipping the alcohol wipe. The mount fails within weeks instead of years.
Mistake 2: Mounting in direct sunlight zones. Dashboards reach 70°C+ in summer. Adhesive pads degrade above 60°C. Mount in shaded areas where possible.
Mistake 3: Pointing the LED at your face. Light bouncing off a surface is dramatic. Light shining at you is distracting. Always aim down or sideways.
Mistake 4: Too many pods. Two pods per footwell is plenty. Six pods spread around the cabin is usually overkill — too many light sources kill the ambient effect and turn it into a disco.
Maintenance
That's basically it. Recharge each pod when the battery LED dims (or proactively every couple of weeks for daily drivers). Wipe the pods occasionally if dust collects. The kit will outlive most car interiors.
